A subsidised course in “Minimising the Risks in the Use of 1080 Pest Animal Bait Products for Vertebrate Pest Control” is being offered to Casey, Cardinia and Yarra Ranges landowners on Saturday 17 March 2012.
The Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority (PPWCMA) is teaming with the Casey, Cardinia and Yarra Ranges Councils to deliver this half day course to farmers and property owners interested in managing threats to agriculture, wildlife and other natural resources on their property. Numbers are limited and landowners are encouraged to register in advance.
For a subsidised rate of $40, the course will allow participants to register to receive a 1080-endorsed Agricultural Chemical Users Permit (ACUP) which is required for the use of 1080 to control vertebrate pest animals.
The Habitat Protection and Conservation Project is protecting and increasing habitat for threatened species including Helmeted Honeyeater, Southern Brown Bandicoot and Leadbeater’s Possum in the Yarra and Westernport catchment areas.
The event is organised as part of the Habitat Protection and Conservation Project managed by the PPWCMA and funded by the Australian Government’s ‘Caring for our Country’ program.
